My Top projects for a glam mother’s day Mom Glam

This year Instead of the tried and true let’s give Mom a little glam for her day .

Every mom needs a picture frame let’s go one step further let’s go with a big  Silver one with a hand done finish that looks like an old mirror. If your Momsliverframe2sm is like my mom she will put her own picture in it.

Check out how they were made here in my post from I like Shiny Things.

I’m a mom and I love this little bird I think he dresses up the place wherever he goes. She might wonder why you silver-bird-smare giving her a Shiny little bird. Pair it with a  Shiny votive and she will get the idea.

Speaking of votive you can’t go wrong with these little mason jars sweet and  sophisticated all at the same time.round-vase-sm

Now that brings us to the Round vase with the Faux Mercury glass finish. It’s go  classic shape and a glam finish. Who could resist putting flowers in this one.

mason-sm1Can we ever have enough Shiny vases. I don’t think so. This one has its original blue undertones showing through. You can never go vase-smwrong with blue and blue and shiny are even better. Hmm there seems to be a pattern.

We love color and we love shiny can’t go wrong with the two of them together. Especially as colorful votive ready for flowers or candles.

Pictures of Flowers are a classic but pictures of flowers in a white frame are a must. Especially paired with family photos.color-votives-all=sm

I would love any of these for my day. What is your favorite?

Graduating from Beauty School in the 50's

My mother from the  the 50’s

As Passover and Easter come along  I am thinking about family traditions. If you just ask me do I have any family traditions I would say no but after thinking about it realize that I do. My family celebration have usually been small affairs, very small and have consisted of my mother and myself for years; and usually   consisted of me lounging around and her cooking up a storm, 5 or six dishes at least. She would pop up every once and a while and ask me to do something really simple like make a salad or drain the vegetables. After she passed away, almost 7 years ago, it was just me and my son. For he first few years after she passed, I invited myself to different friends celebrations wanting a lot of people and activity for my son. As I went to different people’s houses I missed what the holidays were to me turkey, my mother’s 5 cheese mac and cheese and candied sweet potatoes,  which almost no body liked. The first Thanksgiving we stayed home and I cooked her usual menu, it just felt right. I went back to her table with those dishes. Since then we usually stay home and I cook and ask my son to do this and that. Just like it used to be. My friends are usually shocked that I am at home “by myself” during the holidays with just my son. What they don’t know is that I have my mother with me with each bite of food.

what not to do to your newly stenciled table

After, sniff sniff. I have to redo the top

After, sniff sniff. I have to redo the top

This is what not to do to your newly painted and stenciled table. I finished my stenciling and put the table aside. Usually I lay some drapes or a towel on table to protect it from my cats that want to sit on everything. Well I was moving and in hurry so  I threw a plastic drop cloth over it. The cats diligently slept on the table, putting their butts every which way. When I went to move the table and took the drop cloth off the paint on the drop cloth had started to stick to the table. Leaving white splotches everywhere, noooooooo……..  when I found it the paint from the drop cloth could still be easily  scratched off. But I was moving and didn’t have time to scratch off paint. I put a towel on it at and went on to other things. coming back to it days later. That paint is really baked on, no scratching is going to help me. Sigh, time to do it over.
